Soloists such as Juan Diego Florez , Rolando Villazón , Olga Scheps , Maria Bill and the Klazz Brothers have performed with the orchestra . Literary concert evenings were organized with actors such as Iris Berben , Cornelius Obonya and Philipp Hochmair .

The repertoire ranges from classical-romantic works such as Bach , Mozart , Beethoven and Schubert to Igor Stravinsky , Fazil Say and John Adams .

In addition to subscription concerts, the orchestra has, according to its own statements, set itself the task of setting strong accents in the “ audience development ” area. That is why the Philharmonie Salzburg, in cooperation with the “ Children's Festival” , offers children, young people and families an introduction to the world of classical music through interactive symphonic concerts and workshops. The orchestra was also the initiator of the apprentice concerts in the Great Festival Hall in Salzburg .

The orchestra has also specialized in “cross projects such as “Best of Hollywood”, “Game Music meets Poetry Slam” or “Soul meets Classic”. In 2018 the Salzburg Philharmonic created a cross-disciplinary project for the 20th anniversary of the orchestra: the anniversary concert “The Next Level!”, Live orchestral music with acrobats and DJs . In autumn 2019 the orchestra, under the direction of chief conductor Elisabeth Fuchs, played the world premiere of " Jedermann Reloaded Symphonic " together with Philipp Hochmair in the Großer Festspielhaus .
