Elisabeth Fuchs

Elisabeth Fuchs (born March 8, 1976 in Kirchdorf an der Krems , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian conductor .

Live and act

From 1990 Elisabeth Fuchs attended the Linz Music High School and at the same time studied oboe at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz . After graduating from high school, she completed a teaching degree in music and mathematics from 1995, which she completed in 2002. During this time she took her first conducting lessons with Herbert Böck. She then received regular training from Karl Kamper, Jorge Rotter, Dennis Russell Davies and Michael Luig .

In 1998 she founded the Junge Philharmonie Salzburg and has been the artistic director ever since. Fuchs worked on a broad spectrum from Bach to Beethoven and Stravinsky , directed numerous world premieres and created his own concert cycle in the Mozarteum Salzburg . In addition to her own orchestra, she was also the conductor of the Bruckner Orchester Linz , the Philharmonisches Orchester Reichenhall , the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, the Stuttgart Philharmoniker , the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Wiener Tonkünstlerorchester , the Festival Young Artists Bayreuth and the State Opera Prague .

In 2001 she spun off the Salzburg Philharmonic from the Junge Philharmonie Salzburg , which she also directs.

From 2001 to 2003 she was director of the TonArt symphony orchestra in Heidelberg. In summer 2005 she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival with Shostakovich's film music for Das neue Babylon , where she directed the opera production Bastien und Bastienne and Der Schauspieldirektor in Mozart Year 2006 .

Elisabeth Fuchs has founded and directed the Salzburg Children's Festival since 2007, which aims to bring classical music closer to children and young people . Two years later she became the artistic director of the Salzburg Cultural Association.

Elisabeth Fuchs is the mother of a son (Michael, * 2009) and a daughter (Hannah, * 2014).
