Philip Hampton

Philip Hampton (born October 5, 1953 ) is a British banker and manager .

Life

Hampton graduated from Lincoln College , Oxford . After completing his studies, he first worked for the British consultancy Coopers & Lybrand from 1975 , which later became PricewaterhouseCoopers , and worked in London and West Africa. 1980/1981 he studied at Insead . He then worked for the US company Lazard for nine years and worked in New York City and Paris. Further professional positions then took him to the British companies British Steel (from 1990 to 1995), British Gas (from 1995 to 1997), BG Group (from 1997 to 2000), British Telecom (from 2000 to 2002) and Lloyds TSB as Finance Director (from 2002 to 2004). From 2004 to 2009 he was chairman of the British company J Sainsbury . From 2009 to August 2014 Hampton was Chairman of the Scottish Royal Bank of Scotland , where disputes arose in 2011/2012 over bonus payments for senior managers. Hampton has been with GlaxoSmithKline since January 2015 , initially as a member of the Supervisory Board and since May 7, 2015 as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Hampton lives with his family in East Horsley , Surrey .
