Philip Plisson

Philip Plisson (born January 17, 1947 in Orléans ) is a French photographer who is a specialist in marine photography .

Life

Plisson has been concerned with the sea since early childhood. As a teenager he started to take pictures of yachts with his first camera . After a two-year trip around the world, he met his future wife, with whom he settled in France and initially worked in her family business.

At the age of 27, he turned completely to photography and became a specialist in marine photography. In 1991 he was appointed Peintre Officiel de la Marine . With his son Guillaume Plisson , who also works as a photographer, he founded the Pêcheurs d'images publishing house . He published numerous illustrated books.

In September 2010, Plisson's photo gallery in Crac'h near La Trinité-sur-Mer was completely destroyed in a fire, with around one million photos, including 450,000 originals, lost. Plisson, who was in Belgium at the time of the fire, commented on this with "30 years of my life went up in flames".

His marriage to Marie-Brigitte resulted in two sons and a daughter.

In 2012, Plisson created Marine Le Pen's campaign portrait for the presidential election campaign.

In May 2014, Plisson was sentenced to three years in prison for rape his niece in 1999, and withdrew his appeal in November 2014.
