Philipp Constantin von Berckheim (full name Philipp-Constantin Eduard Siegmund Clemens Tassilo Tobias von Berckheim) (born September 20, 1924 in Mannheim ; † October 6, 1984 in Weinheim ) was u. a. Car racing driver in the 1950s, banker and co-partner of the ABA Bank for Sales Credit Mannheim, large winery owner and seller of the exotic forest in Weinheim, Bergstrasse .

Life

Philipp Constantin Graf von Berckheim from the noble family von Berckheim was the son of Count Philipp Christian Paul von Berckheim (1883–1945) and Countess Irene von Schönborn-Wiesentheid (1895–1969). In 1954 he married Princess Sophie Antoinette von Fürstenberg (called Netti) in one of the richest families in Germany at the time. The divorce took place in 1963. In Mannheim he was a partner in the ABA Bank for Sales Credit Graf von Berckheim & Co. KG . After his death in 1984 he was buried in the family mausoleum in Weinheim's castle park .

Motor sports enthusiasts and car enthusiasts

After the Second World War he drove intensively in car races. Like Paul Fürst Metternich , he took part in the Carrera Panamericana and the Mille Miglia as a private driver in a Porsche 356 with Porsche factory support in 1952 . He was also one of the first buyers of the Mercedes 300 SL . He had a serious accident in a Mercedes 300 SL and from then on remained dependent on a wheelchair. At Daimler-Benz he had a unique special model of the Mercedes 600 Landaulet with a short wheelbase made.
