Philipp Cornelius Heineken
Philipp Cornelius Heineken (born December 6, 1789 in Bremen , † February 13, 1871 in Bremen) was a German physician .
biography
Heineken was the son of Hofrat Johann Heineken . He graduated from the Alte Gymnasium in Bremen and studied medicine in Berlin and at the University of Göttingen . In Göttingen he received his doctorate. med. After that, he made some trips.
In 1812 he settled in Bremen as a doctor. His specialty was ophthalmology . He translated half-timbered works from English and French. In Bremen he became a physician , an old professional title for doctor, and a member of the health council. He belonged to the group of medical educators of the 18th and 19th centuries who contributed to the popularization of science and medicine, such as Gottfried Wilhelm Becker and Johann Friedrich Ernst Albrecht , among others .
In 1836/37 he published his basic work The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and its area in topographical, medical and natural history terms .
