Philipp Stein (born February 16, 1990 in Mainz , Germany) is a German chef .

Career

Philipp Stein comes from Mainz-Finthen , where his parents run the restaurant “Steins Traube” in the fifth generation.

He completed his shortened training in the Atrium Hotel in Mainz . Stations with Dirk Maus as well as in the Wiesbadener Ente and in the Favorite restaurant followed before he went to sea.

Philipp Stein spent almost a year and a half at sea, initially as Chef de Partie with Dieter Müller on the MS Europa , and later as Junior Sous Chef for the ship's Italian restaurant, Venezia . On the MS Europa 2 , he helped set up the new restaurant concept for the Serenissima restaurant . Back on the mainland, Stein worked at the Waldhotel Sonnora . In January 2014, he took up his first position as head chef in the Favorite restaurant in the Mainz city park .

At the age of just 24, Philipp Stein was named Germany's youngest star chef in 2014 and won first place from the French gourmet guide Gault & Millau for “Newcomer of the Year” in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Since September 2017 Philippstein regularly as a TV chef in the ARD telecast ARD Buffet seen.

Philipp Stein has two children with his wife. In August 2019, the couple took over the family restaurant after a renovation phase, and his wife is in charge of the service in the “Steins Traube” restaurant. The couple lives in Mainz .
