Philipp Zöller (born May 1, 1832 in Winnweiler (Bavarian Palatinate), † July 31, 1885 in Vienna ) was a German-Austrian agricultural chemist.

Zöller studied natural sciences at the University of Munich , did his doctorate there in 1856 and worked as a chemist at the newly founded agricultural research station in Munich from 1857. From then on he was in close contact with Justus von Liebig . In 1860 he moved to the Plant Physiological Institute of the Botanical Garden in Munich as an adjunct. In 1863 he was appointed honorary professor for phytochemistry at the University of Munich. In 1864 he followed a call as professor for applied chemistry at the University of Erlangen and in 1872 he went as professor for agricultural chemistry at the University of Göttingen . From 1873 until his death he worked as full professor “for the chemical subjects” at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. In the academic year 1877/1878 he was rector of the university .

Zöller has published articles about his research work in the in- house journal of the Bayerischer Landwirthschaftliche Verein in Munich and in the weekly Oekonomische Dinge published by him . Zöller was a staunch supporter of the agricultural chemistry teachings of Justus von Liebig. Zöller had commissioned Zöller to publish a new edition of his main work The Chemistry in Its Application to Agriculture and Physiology after his death . Zöller fulfilled this mandate three years after Liebig's death: In 1876 the ninth and final edition of this epoch-making work was published.
