Philipp Zeller

Philipp Zeller (born March 23, 1983 in Munich ) is a former German hockey player and lawyer . With the German national team he was world champion in 2006 , Olympic champion in 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London), and European champion in 2003 and 2011. He is the bearer of the silver bay leaf .

Life

Zeller first attended the Pestalozzi-Gymnasium from 1993 to 2001 and then the Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium in Munich, where he graduated from high school with the advanced courses in sport and English in 2002 . After completing his basic military service in a sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr , he studied law at the University of Hamburg , University of Bonn and the University of Cologne.

Zeller works as a lawyer in Cologne. He has two brothers. His brother Christopher Zeller also plays on the national hockey team.

Career

Philipp played with his brother Christopher in the 2006/07 season for Dutch champions HC Bloemendaal . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, he and his brother moved to the then second division club Rot-Weiss Köln , with whom they were promoted to the first division and won the German championship the following year.

The Olympic championship team from 2008, to which Zeller belonged, was voted Team of the Year 2008 in Germany. By the end of 2012, he was used in 199 international matches.

He ended his career in 2016.
