Philipp von Klett

Maximilian Philipp Friedrich Klett , von Klett from 1880 , (* July 20, 1833 in Ludwigsburg , † October 1, 1910 in Calw ) was a German chess composer and military officer .

Life

Klett was a career officer at the Ludwigsburg Cadet Institute, where he became captain . From 1870 to 1874 he was in command of the Ludwigsburg War School . He was appointed to the Württemberg War Ministry .

In 1880, Klett was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown , with which the staff nobility was associated, for his services .

Klett spent his final years in retirement in Calw. He died in his home.

Chess composition

Philipp von Klett is considered to be one of the most important composers of the old German school of chess composition . In his collection of exercises, published in 1878, there are 112 exercises, mostly multi-trainers. In it he referred to chess problems as " mathematical poetry ". In an obituary in the German chess newspaper in 1910, the extensive mastery of positions was highlighted as a special achievement of Klett.

As a rule, Velcro's tasks are characterized by complicated variants. The following example is one of the lightweights.
