Life

The canon came from the old Westphalian noble family von Wrede and belonged to the Amecker branch of the family.

From 1655 Philipp von Wrede zu Amecke appears as canon in the prince-bishopric of Worms and in 1656 he became canon . In 1658 he was appointed dean of the cathedral after his predecessor Heinrich Spies von Mozenborn had died. He held this office until 1664.

From 1663 the Archbishop of Mainz Johann Philipp von Schönborn († 1673) also ruled as Worms Prince-Bishop, but still resided in Mainz. He appointed Philipp von Wrede zu Amecke as his Worms administrator (deputy). The successors Lothar Friedrich von Metternich-Burscheid († 1675) and Damian Hartard von der Leyen also resided in Mainz and confirmed the canon as their administrator in Worms. In 1673 the Jesuits built their own convent house in the city for the first time , the costs of which Philipp von Wrede zu Amecke largely bore. On Joseph's Day 1675 he also laid the foundation stone for the attached church .

The prelate died in Speyer in December 1677.
