Philippe-Henri Berger
Philippe-Henri Berger (born March 25, 1883 in Boudry , † January 13, 1940 in Boudevilliers , reformed , resident in Oberthal and Fontainemelon ) was a Swiss politician (SP) .
biography
Philippe-Henri Berger was born on March 25, 1883 in Boudry, the son of the day laborer Charles Justin Berger. After attending primary school in Boudry, Berger completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic in 1900. Subsequently, he worked as a worker in the Fontainemelon watch factory until 1905, then as a mechanic in La Chaux-de-Fonds , before he became the owner of a mechanical workshop in Fontainemelon in 1913.
Philippe-Henri Berger was married to Anna Marguerite nee Staehli. He died on January 13, 1940, a few months before he would turn 57 in Boudevilliers.
Political career
As a member of the Social Democratic Party, Philippe-Henri Berger was a member of the General Council of Fontainemelon at the local level from 1918 to 1933 . He then acted as secretary of the Fontainemelon municipal council until 1940 . To this end, he represented his party at cantonal level from 1925 to 1933 in the Neuchâtel Grand Council . In addition, Berger took a seat on the National Council for his canton from 1919 to 1922 and 1927 to 1928 at the federal level . He was also on the board of the Fontainemelon consumer cooperative.
