Philippe Pierre Dauman (born March 1, 1954 in New York City ) is an American manager and top official.

Life

Dauman was born in New York City, the son of French immigrants. After high school, he studied at Yale University and then graduated from Columbia Law School ( Columbia University ) in 1978 with a doctorate in law. After nine years of partnership in a law firm in New York, he became director, chief legal counsel, deputy chairman (1996 to 2000) and vice president of the US media group Viacom in 1987 . From 2006 to 2016 he worked there as managing director. In 2011, he was the highest paid executive in the world, according to a Wall Street Journal survey, with an annual earnings of $ 84.3 million. In addition to his position at Viacom, Dauman is also a member of the board of directors of the Swiss building materials group LafargeHolcim .

Along with Shari Redstone, the daughter of Sumner Redstone , and trusted Viacom managers and lawyers, Dauman was a member of the family trust of the Redstone family, which will manage their majority stakes in Viacom and CBS Corporation via National Amusements following the death of Sumner Redstone .

He has been married since 1977 and has two children. In addition to English, he is also fluent in French.

In August 2016, Dauman stepped down as CEO of Viacom, having previously been removed from the Redstone family's trust. The background is a long, lost power struggle with Viacom major shareholder Sumner M. Redstone . Dauman received $ 72 million in severance payment.
