Archbishop Phillip Aspinall

Phillip Aspinall (born December 17, 1959 in Hobart ) has been Archbishop of Brisbane since 2002 and was head of the Anglican Church of Australia from 2005 to 2014 .

He has a degree in science from the University of Tasmania , in theology from the Melbourne College of Divinity (by the Trinity College of the University of Melbourne and the United Faculty of Theology ), and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University and a Ph.D. . in Education from Monash University .

Aspinall worked as a computer programmer for the Tasmanian Ministry of Education.

Aspinall was ordained a deacon in Tasmania on July 25, 1988 , and a year later a priest .

He has served in various positions in the Anglican Church in Tasmania and Victoria, including, as assistant director at Christ College at the University of Tasmania (1980-1984), as assistant pastor and priest in various locations in Tasmania, and as director of the Anglicare Tasmania ( 1994 to 1998), including two years as archdeacon for church and society.

He was ordained bishop on June 29, 1998 in Adelaide , where he served as assistant bishop until December 2001.

He is married to a doctor and has two children.
