Phosphaticola gemmatella is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe magnificent butterfly family (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 11 to 12 millimeters. The head is ocher gray and white on the sides. The antennae are gray-brown and the first half ringed white. Thorax and tegulae are ocher gray and a little paler behind. The forewings are yellowish gray and more or less gray scales , especially on the inner edge of the wing. The basal quarter is ocher-gray, followed by an indistinct white band. On the Costa loader there is a large gray spot at 3/4 of the fore wing length, which runs to the inner corner and becomes narrower. In the direction of the apex there is a wide white band, the outer area of ​​which is interspersed with ocher-colored scales. It has a gray-brown border on the Costa loader and on the inner edge of the wing. Four hump-like, bronze-colored shimmering spots belong to the drawing. These shine golden and blue and are outlined in black. The first is at 1/3 of the fore wing length below the anal fold. The second is below the Costa loader and is slightly shifted towards the wingtip. The third is in the middle of the wing at 2/3 of the fore wing length. The fourth and smallest is above the interior angle. The fringed scales are whitish, with a broad gray-brown line in front of the inner corner. The hind wings shimmer orange-gray, the costalader is white at the base. The fringed scales are ocher brown. The abdomen is dorsally pale yellow, the first segment and the basal half of the second segment are grayish.

In the males, the brachia are long, asymmetrical, and longer than the tegumen . The left brachium is longer than the right and has an apical protuberance. The blades are quite short and spatulate. The Valvellae are club-shaped and of the same size. The aedeagus is large and curved in the middle. The Juxta is sparsely covered with small needles.

In females, the Apophyses posteriores are one and a half times as long as the Apophyses anteriores . The front edge of the 8th tergite has a V-shaped indentation. The sterigma is triangular and heavily sclerotized . The ductus bursae is narrow and about half as long as the corpus bursae . The corpus bursae is quite large and pear-shaped and has two elongated signs.
