Photo Booth ( English for photo booth is) a software from Apple that the inclusion of photos and videos using an (internal or external) iSight camera or webcam allows other manufacturers. The simple addition of various visual effects is part of the program.

development

Apple introduced the software on October 12, 2005 together with the iMac G5 for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) . Since then, Photo Booth has been included free of charge as part of this computer, which has an integrated iSight webcam.

Since Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) , Photo Booth has not only mastered the handling of photos, but also the recording and manipulation of webcam videos. Since then, the program has been part of Apple's standard equipment, even if not all computers have a built-in iSight camera.

The captured snapshots can u. a. Sent via email with one click , used in iPhoto or used as an icon in iChat or messages and in the Apple address book . Since OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion , they can also be shared on Facebook , Twitter or Flickr . In order to ensure adequate lighting conditions during the recording, the screen can be switched to pure white as a flash substitute for the recording.

From version 4.3 of the iOS , Photo Booth can also be used on the iPad. The app runs on the iPad 2 and newer.
