Phyllis Haver
Phyllis Haver (born January 6, 1899 in Douglass , Kansas , † November 19, 1960 in Sharon , Connecticut ) was an American silent film star of the 1920s.
Life
Phyllis Haver came to the cinema straight from high school and began her artistic career as a piano accompanist for silent films. At the age of 17, the tall blonde from a small town in Kansas first received small roles in short films from the producer of slapstick comedy and Chaplin discoverer Mack Sennett .
A little later, Phyllis Haver became a popular silent film actress. Her subject was that of the sinful seductress, the vicious vamp and the seedy femme fatale . Her film partners included u. a. Emil Jannings , John Barrymore and Lon Chaney senior . In 1928 she even worked with DW Griffith on the film Comedy One Love . Phyllis Haver ended her acting career at the age of 30, in the transition from silent to talkies , and married a wealthy New York businessman. In 1960 she took her own life, completely forgotten by the film world, with an overdose of barbiturates.
