Life

Phyllis Morris first appeared in front of the film camera in 1934 and then played in numerous British productions. In Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps ( The 39 Steps , 1935), she appeared in a small supporting role. This is also the case in Sam Wood's teacher drama Goodbye, Mr. Chips ( Goodbye, Mr. Chips ), in which Robert Donat and Greer Garson played the leading roles. This was followed by small appearances in The Life and the Death of Colonel Blimp ( The Life and the Death of Colonel Blimp , 1943) and Hitchcock's Der Fall Paradin ( The Paradine Case , 1947).

Most of the time, Morris was seen as an inconspicuous woman or elderly maid, as in The Imperfect Lady ( Julia Misbehaves , 1948) with Garson in the title role. In The Fate of Irene Forsyte ( That Forsyte Woman , 1949) based on John Galsworthy's novel The Forsyte Saga , she played a member of the Forsytes again at the side of Garson. In Jean Negulescos Three returned home ( Three Came Home , 1950), she appeared as a sister Rose. During the 1950s and 1960s she occasionally made guest appearances on television series such as The Lone Ranger (1950) and Mystery and Imagination (1968). At the end of the 1960s she withdrew from the film business.
