Physalis angustiphysa is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physalis angustiphysa is an herbaceous plant up to 1 m high . It is densely hairy with multicellular trichomes of different lengths, some trichomes are glandular. The ovoid to broadly ovate leaves have a curved edge and are on 1 to 3 cm long petioles . The leaf blades of the larger leaves are 4 to 9.5 cm long and 2 to 4.5 cm wide. The tip of the leaf is pointed, the base is rounded. Both the upper and lower sides are densely covered with long, multicellular and sometimes glandular trichomes.

The flowers stand individually on 5 to 6.5 mm long pedicels, the calyx is 3 to 5 mm long and densely hairy at the time of flowering. It has lanceolate calyx lobes that can be 2 to 2.5 mm long. The yellow, spotted crown is 8 to 9 mm long, the coronal border 12 to 14 mm wide. The stamens are 3 to 4 mm long, the purple anthers 2 to 2.5 mm.

As the fruit ripens, the calyx enlarges to a length of 2.4 to 2.8 cm and a width of 1 to 1.8 cm and assumes a pentagonal cross-section. It stands on a stalk enlarged to 7.5 to 10 mm, is downy hairy and has a reticulate structure. The fruits are about 6 mm diameter berries , which are completely enclosed by the calyx.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs in Guatemala and in the Mexican states of Chiapas , Guanajuato , Jalisco , Michoacán and Nayarit . It grows at altitudes between 1600 and 2000 m in clearings and on the edges of pine and oak forests.
