Physalis chenopodiifolia is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physalis chenopodiifolia is a 15 to 50 cm high herbaceous plant . It is covered in silky hair with short, upwardly directed, twisted trichomes . The leaves are roughly egg-shaped, the leaf margins are whole or irregularly serrated or serrated backwards with 1 to 10 teeth on each side.

The flowers are on 3 to 10 mm long pedicels . The calyx is elongated to expansive bell-shaped during the flowering period, 6 to 10 mm long and 3 to 6 mm wide at the base of the calyx lobes. The calyx lobes make up about 1/3 to 2/3 of the length of the calyx, they are usually narrow, triangular-lanceolate and evenly pointed. The crown is yellowish and darkly mottled. It becomes 12 to 20 mm long and 15 to 30 cm wide and is wheel-shaped. The crown throat is hairy with fine felts. The anthers are bluish or bluish-green, 2 to 2.5 mm long and stand on slender stamens with a length of 2 to 5 mm.

The fruit is a berry with a diameter of about 10 to 15 mm , which is surrounded by an enlarging calyx. This reaches a length of 20 to 30 mm and a diameter of 15 to 20 mm. The cross-section of the cup is ten-ribbed or slightly five-angled with ribs or angles standing between the angles.

distribution

The species is common in Mexico .
