Physalis hintonii is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

Physalis hintonii is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 30 to 55 mm. It is hairy with 1 mm long, branched trichomes . The leaves are egg-shaped, the edge short-wavy. The largest leaves are 5 to 9 cm long and 3 to 6 cm wide. The leaf stalks are 10 to 35 mm long.
The calyx is 10 to 16 mm long at the flowering time and 9 to 14 mm wide at the base of the calyx tips. The calyx lobes are triangular-egg-shaped and 5 to 10 mm long. The crown is spotted, 13 to 18 mm long and 17 to 20 mm in diameter. The anthers are purple in color and 3 to 4 mm long, the stamens are 3 to 5 mm long.
The calyx enlarges on the fruit to a length of 25 to 35 mm and a diameter of 18 to 22 mm, in cross section it is pentagonal. The berry is about 1 cm in diameter.

The species is common in Mexico .
