Physochlaina praealta is a plant type from the genus of Physochlaina in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physochlaina praealta is a 30 to 50 cm high plant. The roots are round and about 2 cm in diameter. The stems are well branched and hairy with glands. The leaves have a 1 to 6 cm long petiole , as well as an egg-shaped, egg-shaped-elliptical, egg-shaped-triangular or triangular leaf blade with a length of 4 to 13 cm and a width of 3 to 8 cm. It is sparsely hairy glandular, at the base wedge-shaped, heart-shaped or occasionally cut, it is blunt or slightly pointed towards the front. The leaf margin is whole and curved.

The inflorescences are panicles of a few flowers , they are accompanied by foliage -like bracts with a length of 0.5 to 1.5 cm. The flower stalks are 1 to 1.5 cm long. The calyx is short bell-shaped or tubular-urn-shaped, hairy glandular, about 6 mm long and 5 mm wide. He is occupied with about 2 mm long, triangular tips. The crown is yellow in color and has purple veins. It is bell-shaped or tubular-bell-shaped and about 2 to 3 cm long. The stamens are somewhat unevenly shaped and protrude beyond the crown. The anthers are 2 mm long. The stylus stands out over the crown.

On the fruit, the calyx becomes thick, tubular to bell-shaped or urn-shaped and 2.5 to 3.5 cm long. It is slightly inflated near the base, tapering and tubular towards the top. It is covered with upright teeth that spread only slightly, are almost the same length and reach about 3.5 to 6 mm. The fruit is an elongated capsule with a length of 1.2 to 1.5 cm. The seeds are almost kidney-shaped, slightly indented and 3.5 × 2.5 mm in size.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 42.

Occurrence

The species is common in India and Pakistan . In Tibet it grows on slopes at altitudes between 4200 and 4500 meters above sea level.
