The Phyotmyxea are a group of protozoa that are systematically added to the Cercozoa . They live parasitically.
Features and way of life
The Phytomyxea are parasites or parasitoids on plants or on stramenopiles . Their cells are amoeboid or form plasmodia , from which two or four flagellated cells develop . Some forms form special, solid extrusomes with which they penetrate the host cells.
In mitosis , they form a characteristic cross-shaped structure that goes back to the long-lasting nucleolus that is perpendicular to the metaphase plate.

The Phytomyxea are placed among the Cercozoa .
