Piano Bar is the fifth studio album by French singer Patricia Kaas .
About the album
“This album is inspired by the movie of Claude Lelouch ' And now… Ladies and Gentlemen '”
it says on the cover of the 2002 album Piano Bar by Patricia Kaas. However, this album is not a soundtrack to the film in which Patricia Kaas plays one of the leading roles. In contrast to the previous albums Le mot de Passe and Je te dis vous (to name just a few) and the successor Sexe fort , Piano Bar is mainly in English (with the exception of the 1997 album Black Coffee, which was produced exclusively for the American market ).
"With this record, I wanted to pay a tribute and restore the term" Piano Bar ", which was a vehicle for french chanson in so many places around the world"
On the album produced by Robin Millar (he already produced the album Je te dis vous from 1993) there are several cover versions of well-known titles. Where Do I Begin is originally from the soundtrack to the classic film Love Story . The title If You Go Away is an English version of the title Ne me quitte pas by Jacques Brel from 1959. Un homme et une femme from 1966 by Francis Lai was part of the soundtrack for the film of the same name by Claude Lelouch. Another homage to the great French chanson singers is the title Yesterday When I Was Young, penned by Charles Aznavour , in the French original the title is called Hier encore .
In terms of chart placement, Piano Bar was the second most successful album (after Mademoiselle chante… ) by Patricia Kaas in Germany with a 12th place . In France, it only just reached the top 10 with 10th place.
