The Pic du Thabor is a 3,207 m high mountain in the Cerces massif , a subgroup of the Cottian Alps in the French department of Savoie ( Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region ).
The summit marked the border with Italy until 1947 , but was added to France at the Paris Peace Conference in 1946 - as was the entire former Valle Stretta as Vallée Étroite . It can be reached from the Valle Stretta or Vallée Étroite (near Bardonecchia / Piemont ) via a hiking trail.
The name of the mountain probably goes back to the time of the Crusaders who also visited Mount Tabor (Israel).
