Pierangelo Manzaroli (born March 25, 1969 in Rimini , Italy ) is a former San Marinese soccer player and today's coach . In his active career, he played 38 caps for his country between 1991 and 2001, and has been the head coach of the San Marino national team since 2014 , after having been in charge of the U-21s for four years .

Career

As a player

Manzaroli spent his entire career in San Marino, playing for SS Cosmos , SP Cailungo , San Marino Calcio and SS Pennarossa . In the national team, he made 38 appearances in ten years. In 2005 he ended his active career and decided to continue working as a coach.

Coaching career

In 2006 Manzaroli was coach at Pennarossa and led the club to the championship. From 2007 to 2008 he took over AC Libertas . In between he was in charge of the B-team in San Marino's UEFA Regions' Cup .

In 2009 he coached the U-15 San Marino's for one year, in 2010 he succeeded Giuseppe Canini in the U-21.

With the U-21, Manzaroli managed a 0-0 win against Greece in qualifying for the U-21 European Championship 2013 , which was celebrated as a success by the San Marines. The team won their first victory on September 6, 2013 against the U-21s from Wales , in front of their home crowd San Marino sensationally won 1-0 with a header from Juri Biordi in the 21st minute of the game. It was the second competitive win ever for a San Marino national team (the U-17 won 2-1 against Andorra in 2002), if you ignore the other two games rated 3-0 for San Marino.

Following the resignation of Giampaolo Mazza in 2013 , the San Marino Football Association appointed Manzaroli as his successor in the senior national team on February 15, 2014 . He made his debut on June 8, 2014 in a friendly against Albania , San Marino lost the game 3-0.

On November 15, 2014 Manzaroli's team reached a 0-0 win against Estonia .
