Pierre-André Schürmann (born July 5, 1960 in Port-Valais or Monthey ) is a former Swiss football player and current coach.

Career

player

Schürmann began his career at FC Sion, where he played one season. From 1981 he played for two seasons in Monthey in the canton of Valais. In 1983 he moved to FC Chiasso in Ticino. After one season, he moved to Vevey in 1984, where he stayed for two seasons. He then moved to Lausanne-Sport in 1986 for the relatively high sum of 150,000 francs at the time, where he stayed for six years and played most of his career games. From 1992 he played one more season at FC Basel. From 1994 he was the player-coach at FC Wil for a season and a half.

Trainer

At FC Wil Schürmann was first a player-coach, from the 1995/96 season he was only a coach. He stayed at FC Wil until 1997. In 1998 he became a coach at Lausanne-Sport, and in December 2000 he left the club again after almost two years. From 2004 he was coach of the U19 and U20 of the Swiss Football Association . With the U19 he played in 2004 in the U-19 European Championship in his own country. But failed in the semifinals against Turkey in extra time. With the U20 he played at the U21 World Cup in the Netherlands in 2005, but was eliminated in the preliminary round. From 2007 he was a coach for the U21s until 2009. He then moved to Xamax in 2009, where he lost his job before the end of the season. In 2012 he was a trainer in Sion for 41 days. From 2014 to 2016 Schürmann was the coach of the Algerian U-23 national team. Among other things, he led the U23s to the 2016 Summer Olympics . There it was already over in the preliminary round, after one point from three games. From 2018 he was assistant trainer under Christian Gross at Zamalek Cairo . Then Schürmann was assistant coach Al-Ahly Jeddah , first again under Christian Gross, and finally under Vladan Milojević .
