Pierre Barbéris

Pierre Barbéris (born May 3, 1926 in Paris , † May 8, 2014 in Luc-sur-Mer ) was a French Romance studies and literary scholar .

life and work

Barbéris attended the Lycée Henri IV and studied from 1946 to 1951 at the École normal supérieure of Saint-Cloud . He taught in Aleppo and Beirut , passed the Agrégation in "Lettres modern" in 1960 and taught from 1961 to 1976 at the École normal supérieure, where he had studied. He completed his habilitation in 1968 with the writings Balzac et le mal du siècle (2 vols., Paris 1970, Geneva 2002, 1991 pages) and Naissance d'un romancier. Le "When Chlore" de Balzac 1822-1825. Documents inédits (Paris 1970) and was professor at the University of Caen from 1976 .

Barbéris was president of the Association française des enseignants de français from 1969 to 1975 . He was the founding president of the Société des études romantiques (from 1969 to 1971) and editor of the Elseneur magazine .
