Incredible stories

He became known, among other things, through the TV, radio and book series Incredible Stories (in the original: Les Dossiers extraordinaires ). The stories are about true events that happened somewhere and at some point. It is usually from 1850 to 1995, and incredible stories are told that either well-known personalities or just "normal" people experienced.

Bellemare came up with the idea for this series in the mid-1970s, when he was sitting in front of a blank sheet of paper and couldn't get any further. Several thousand stories emerged, which he told first on French television and then on the radio, before some of them were published in book form and also translated into German.

Among other things, one hears of puzzling criminal cases, experiences in connection with historical events or other extraordinary occurrences. For these mostly exciting and sometimes a little humorous short stories, Bellemare, together with a permanent team of authors and documentaries, went in search of “unbelievable stories”, for which they rummaged through police files and newspaper archives. Bellemare finally wrote it in book form in the 1980s and 1990s. For Germany, these books were published by, among others, Nymphenburger Verlag , Gondrom Verlag , Paul Zsolnay Verlag and Weltbild Verlag .
