Pierre Gilgenast (born March 21, 1965 in Rendsburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is the full-time mayor of the Schleswig-Holstein city ​​of Rendsburg.

Life

Professional background

Pierre Gilgenast was born in Rendsburg. He attended the Mastbrook primary school there, then the Rotenhof secondary school, also in Rendsburg. After graduating from the business vocational school (today the Rendsburg-Eckernförde vocational training center), he passed his A-levels at the Rendsburg Business School in 1986. After his military service as a temporary soldier in the Rendsburg Eiderkaserne , he studied law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel from 1988 to 1995 . After a legal traineeship in Flensburg , he passed his second state examination in 1997. From 1997 to 1998 he worked for a law firm in Rendsburg, specializing in administrative law.

Political commitment

Since 1986, the year he graduated from high school , Gilgenast was a member of the community council of Fockbek , a neighboring community of Rendsburg. From 1991 to 1998 he was also a member of the district council for the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district . In the district council he was a member of the main committee and the finance committee.

He was deputy chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein regional association of the German Forest Protection Association (SDW) and chairman of the church synod of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde church district. During this time he was also a member of the Constituent Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

Mayor's office

In 1998 he was elected full-time mayor of the municipality of Fockbek. He held this office until 2012, and since 2008 he has also been deputy honorary head of the Fockbek office . From 2008 to 2012, after the formation of an administrative association from Fockbek with the office of Hohner Harde , he was the chief administrative officer of the office of Hohner Harde.

In October 2012, Pierre Gilgenast was elected Mayor of Rendsburg in the first ballot. Only two years after the mayoral election in 2010, the position in Rendsburg became vacant because the incumbent mayor Andreas Breitner was appointed Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein. Gilgenast won the election with 62.18 percent of the valid votes in the first ballot.
