Pierre Jacques Dierckx
Pierre Jacques Dierckx (born July 27, 1855 in Antwerp , † March 22, 1947 in Brussels ) was a Belgian genre painter, watercolorist and decorator.
Dierckx studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen with Lucas Victor Schaefels, then at the École des beaux-arts de Paris with Paul Baudry and in the studios of Georges Delfosse and Étienne Omer Wauquier. In 1879 he became a student of Charles Verlat .
The painter went on study trips to Italy, Brittany and Holland.
Dierckx created wall decorations for the 1894 World's Fair in Antwerp and won a gold medal at the Brussels International Exhibition in 1910 . The artist painted intimate scenes, interiors, landscapes, influenced by the painter Jozef Israëls . He was a member of the Antwerp Art Academy.
