Pierre Lacroix (ice hockey official)

Pierre Lacroix (born August 3, 1948 in Montréal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey official . Since 2006 he has been president of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League after twelve years he long ago as general manager for the franchise worked. His son Éric is a former professional ice hockey player.

Career

Pierre Lacroix was appointed general manager of Québec Nordiques from the National Hockey League on May 24, 1994 , after having previously worked as a player's agent for 21 years. In this post he stayed with the franchise even after it moved to Denver , Colorado , and was renamed Colorado Avalanche . With the Avalanche he won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001 , before he retired from day-to-day business after the 2005/06 season and took over the office of President of the Franchises. François Giguère took over his position as GM .

Lacroix was a co-founder of the Colorado Avalanche Charity Fund , which donated a total of US $ 11 million to charity in Colorado during his tenure as GM from 1995 to 2006. On April 8, 2008, the Canadian was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame for his success with the Avalanche and his social commitment .
