The Menhir de la Pierre Longue (also called Menhir Signal) is on the southern coastal road (Avenue de la Pierre-Longue - D45), west of Le Croisic ( Ar Groazig in Breton ) on the Kervenel peninsula near Guérande in the Loire-Atlantique department in France .

The Neolithic (around 4500 BC) over two meter high menhir originally stood on a hill across the street. It was moved to its current location in 1960. For a long time it dominated the area of the coast and was used for navigation by ships. The menhir is a Christianized megalithic monument . As a pagan symbol, it was provided with an engraved cross, which is hardly visible today. In the 19th century the clergy still complained that girls danced around the menhir and tried to climb it in order to become fertile.
Old documents report a second menhir nearby and a dolmen on the grounds of the golf club at Pointe du Croisic, but there are no traces of it.
The human presence in the area of Le Croisic has been documented since prehistoric times. Traces from the Late Paleolithic Age, 12,000 years old, have been discovered on the nearby coast.
The menhir has been classified as a monument historique since 1889 .
In Batz-sur-Mer , nearby, stands the 2.4 meter high Pierre Longue or Menhir of Saint-Michel. Pierre Longue is also the name of the Pierre Longue by Landepéreuse in the Eure department , the 4.3 meter high Pierre Longue by Guitté in the Côtes-d'Armor department , the 4.1 meter high Pierre Longue by Iffendic , the once over seven meters high Pierre Longue von Cuguen , both in the Ille-et-Vilaine department , and other copies.
