Life

Patricio was born the second son of a middle-class mestizo family in the Philippine province of Capiz . His father was a farmer by trade and his mother a primary school teacher. His artistic talent was recognized by family members at a very early age, which was quite unusual for a family with no artistic background. At the age of seven he won a regional painting competition. In 1977 he took part in the Colgate-Palmolive Phils., Inc. painting competition, where he won first prize. In his youth he encouraged his artistic talent, although his parents were strictly against it. For his studies he was later sent to Iloilo to study civil engineering at the Western Institute of Technology . However, he broke off his studies and decided to do a bachelor's degree in seamanship at what is now the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University in Arevalo . In 1982 he worked as a geological-technical draftsman for the Azure Mining Corporation and later he worked as a seaman for several Japanese freight forwarding companies.

In June 1995, its first one-man exhibition was received by Athens Society and Media and resulted in the sale of 20 of the paintings on display. When he exhibited in Germany for the first time in the same year, he again caused a stir among art critics in Hamburg. The exhibition also led to success. In the spring of 1996 he returned to the Philippines for a few years. He later got his exhibition on behalf of the National Cenntenial Commission in the reception hall of the Philippine Foreign Ministry.

In 1998 he moved with his family to Germany, where he designed several bear sculptures for the company Buddy Bär Berlin GmbH as well as others for the department store chain Galeria Kaufhof and for the shipping company Hamburg Süd . In 2001 the painting of his first Buddy Bear was documented on Deutsche Welle TV. He also sponsored the Filipino Bear for what is now the United Buddy Bears , a project in cooperation with the Initiative Toleranz eV of the Foreign Office and the founders of the company, Eva Herlitz and Dr. Klaus Herlitz , designed. He had already had several art exhibitions in Greece , Germany , Belgium , Italy , Ireland , Latvia , Sweden , Singapore , South Korea and the Philippines .
