Pieter Pourbus (* 1523 in Gouda ; † January 30, 1584 in Bruges ) was a Flemish Renaissance painter , cartographer, engineer and surveyor.

Pieter Pourbus was a contemporary of the artist Karel van Mander . He moved to Bruges in his youth. This city offered him the opportunity to establish himself as a painter during his lifetime. In 1543 he became a member of the Bruges painters' guild. He later became a member of other municipal associations, such as the archers of Bruges.

Frans Pourbus the Elder , a history and portrait painter, was his son and student, the painter Frans Pourbus the Younger was his grandson.
