Peter-Paul Pigmans (born January 31, 1961 in Berkel, Netherlands ; † August 27, 2003 ) was one of the best-known representatives of the hardcore techno / gabber scene under the pseudonym 3 Steps Ahead .

Life

Pigmans came to music through a friend and later colleague Rob Fabrie (aka DJ Waxweazle / The Headbanger), was influenced by the advance of the emerging hardcore techno music style and released from 1993 under the names Silverbells and The Illegal Alien on the record labels Rave Records and Hard Stuff Records. In 1994 Pigmans created the name 3 Steps Ahead, intended for productions with Rob Fabrie and Ed Bout. In 1999 Pigmans was diagnosed with cancer.

Pigmans died of a brain tumor on August 27, 2003, a few weeks after the “3 Steps Ahead 4 Life” fundraising party that took place on July 18 in Zaandam. After his death, Drokz vs. TAFKAT and Promo the tracks " Dedicated 2 3SA " and " Hear This Cry (Dedicated To PPP) " and the organizers of the Thunderdome 2003 party commemorated 3 steps ahead by starting them with a minute of silence.

Pigmans left behind a widow named Jessica de Wit, a daughter named Lara Jill (born January 1998) and a son named Ender (born December 2000).

In 2009 his two tracks " Thunderdome Till We Die " (1997) and " Stravinsky's Bass " (1994) were used in the US film Brüno .
