Piirissaare is a municipality in the Estonian district of Tartu with an area of ​​7.8 km². It has 67 inhabitants, including 3 children (as of January 1, 2012). The municipality is the island of Piirissaar in Lake Peipus .

In addition to the main town Tooni , the rural community also includes the two villages Piiri and Saare . From the port of Piirissaare there are ferry connections to the mainland to Laaksaare (10 km) and Tartu (63 km).

In agriculture, fishing and onion cultivation dominate. There is an Old Believer , an Orthodox and a Lutheran congregation.
