The Pilkebach , also the Pilke , is a left-hand tributary of the upper Spree in Kirschau in the Saxon district of Bautzen with a length of almost five kilometers.

description

The Pilke rises on the eastern slope of the Weifaer Höhe ( 504  m ) and flows down its upper course with a steep gradient into the Neuschirgiswalder Mulde. At the northwestern foot of the Hohberg ( 418  m ) the stream changes its direction and flows between the Weifaer Höhe and the Lärchenberg ( 356  m ) through to the north.

Near Neuwilthen, the Pilke takes a north-easterly direction, crosses under the Oberoderwitz – Wilthen railway line and flows through the basin towards Kirschau. A ditch has been branching off to the left in Neuwilthen since the 18th century, which leads water from the Pilke via the Himmelsmühle and the Kiefermühle to the north into the three Wilthener Vorwerksteiche and then leads to the Neumühle before it flows back into the Pilke.

In Kirschau, the lower course of the stream - mostly piped - leads through the VEGRO site. Until the construction of the industrial area, which today covers an area of 20 hectares, the Pilke meandered on this section past the Kirschauer oil mill through pastureland to the blood meadows. Industrial wastelands have been demolished on the VEGRO site since 2010; In the second phase, which began in 2016, the piped Pilkebach is also to be reopened by 2020. South of the Körse-Therme, the Pilke flows into the Spree at the Spreebogen in Kirschau.

Tributaries

A few nameless streams flow into the Pilke.
