Piloni is a district ( fraction , Italian frazione ) of Roccastrada in the province of Grosseto , Tuscany region in Italy .
geography
The place is 6 km north of the capital Roccastrada and 34 km north of the provincial capital Grosseto in the Colline Metallifere of the Maremma . The place is at 474 m slm and had 152 inhabitants in 2001. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the district of Torniella , which is on the opposite hill. The river Lanzo rises to the east of the village .
history
In the cadastre of Leopold II from 1765, the place is mentioned as a collection of smaller houses. Only at the beginning of the 19th century did the place develop into a somewhat larger community. In 1819 the local church Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie a Piloni was built .
