Pimkie is a fashion brand for young women’s clothing that has its own stores in France and most of Europe. The company is located in Villeneuve-d'Ascq near Lille in northern France. The company is in family hands. The founder was Gérard Mulliez .

The designs are created in the Lille, Barcelona and Milan locations . The central warehouse with weekly deliveries to retail stores for all of Europe is located in Willstätt near Offenburg in Baden-Württemberg . The company employs 6,300 people, and the 765 branches have a turnover of around 600 million euros (2009). Competitors include C&A , Zara , H&M , but also bestsellers , New Yorker , Tally Weijl , Esprit and Camaïeu .

history

Today's Mulliez family holding includes the hypermarket chain Auchan and the fashion brands Orsay , Xanaka , Decathlon and Grain de Malice, as well as a number of other retail stores. Pimkie has had its own stores since 1972, first in France and then in other European countries.

By 2006 the chain managed to grow in sales and profits. After 2007, Pimkie fell into the red and was rated as "cheap" by consumers. This was followed by downsizing and shop closings, centralization in Lille and strikes. Since then, Pimkie has been growing again.

The company generates little online sales. A four-language website was only activated in 2010.

Germany

The company expanded to the German market in 1988. The company focuses on fashion for young women in their 20s. Pimkie operates 156 stores from 200 to 250 square meters in prime downtown locations and shopping centers in Germany and employs around 1500 people. The focus on young people was corrected at the end of 2009. Since the beginning of 2010 there is a new logo and a new shop design.

The German headquarters of the Mulliez companies Pimkie , but also the sister companies Orsay and Xanaka , are located in Willstätt in Baden ; there are Framod GmbH and the PMD GmbH registered.

The company sets itself apart from German discount stores such as KiK , Takko and Woolworth and sells in the price segment from 10 to 100 euros.
