Piotr Nathan

Piotr Nathan (born April 27, 1956 in Gdańsk ) is a German artist from Poland .

Life

Piotr Nathan, actually Piotr Nathan Sobieralski, was born on April 27, 1956 in Gdańsk (Danzig). He grew up there and in Chełmża (Kulmsee). From 1971 to 1976 he attended the High School for Fine Arts (Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych) in Gdynia (Gdynia). In 1977 he was admitted to the Art School in Gdańsk (Danzig). He attended the basic class there. In 1980 he moved to Hamburg to continue his studies there, which he had started in 1978 at the University of Fine Arts . During his studies his artistic development was enhanced by studying with Sigmar Polke and Karl-Ernst Hermann, but also by co-founding and working in the artist group “Stille Helden e. V. ”. After completing his studies in 1986, he moved to Berlin , where he still lives and works today. Since 2006 he has been professor for the class with a focus on classical and experimental drawing and printmaking at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel . He “has his Baltic Sea back” ( Claus Böhmler ).
