Piotr Szafranek

Piotr Szafranek (born July 27, 1973 ) is a Polish table tennis player who was internationally active in the 1980s and 1990s. He took part in four world championships and three European championships .

Career

Piotr Szafranek achieved first international successes at the European Youth Championships. In mixed with Anna Januszyk, he became European youth champion in 1990.

At the national Polish championships for adults he won four titles, namely in 1996 and 1997 in doubles (with Piotr Skierski and Tomasz Krzeszewski ) and in 1991 and 1994 in mixed with Anna Januszyk. From 1989 to 1996 he took part in four world championships and three European championships . However, he never came close to medal ranks.

In 1995 Piotr Szafranek moved from the Polish club AZS-AWF Danzig to Borussia Brand in Germany in the 2nd Bundesliga . With its men's team, he made the promotion. However, in 1996 he moved to TTC Grünweiß Bad Hamm and a year later to TTG Hoengen , with whom he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga straight away. He stayed in Hoengen even after the merger in 2002 to form a syndicate with TTC Jülich .

In 2005 Piotr Szafranek became active in the Netherlands with the clubs Re / Max Hendrix and De Treffers '70. In 2013/14 he played again in his home country Poland with Olimpia-Unia Grudziadz in the European Super League .
