The Pipestone River is a 37 km long left tributary of the Bow River in the southwest of the Canadian province of Alberta .
River course
The Pipestone River rises on the southern slope of Devon Mountain at an altitude of 2500 m in the Canadian Rocky Mountains . From there it flows initially in a south-easterly, later in a south-south-west direction through the mountains. Eventually the river joins the Bow River in the village of Lake Louise .
Hydrology
The Pipestone River drains an area of 306 km². The mean discharge is 5.9 m³ / s. The highest discharges usually occur in June with an average of 21.1 m³ / s.
