The Pischma ( Russian Пижма ) is a left tributary of the Pechora in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .

It has its origin in the Jamosero lake on the Timan ridge . She leaves the Jamosero in a southerly direction. In the middle reaches the Pishma turns to the east. Above the mouth of the Svetlaja it is also called Pechorskaya Pishma . In the lower reaches it then flows mainly in a northerly direction. After a total of 389 km it flows into the Pechora at Ust-Zilma . The Pischma has a catchment area of 5470 km². The river is ice-covered between the beginning of November and the end of April. The mean discharge is 55 m³ / s. The most important tributaries of the Pischma are the Vyatkina from the left and the Gnilaja , Svetlaja and Umba from the right.
