Beaches and bays in Mallorca

Platja den Repic is a beach on the northwest coast of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca . It is located in the north-west of the municipality of Sóller within the village of Port de Sóller . The 350 meter long and 30 meter wide beach made of gravel and sand is located on the Passeig de sa Platja embankment , behind which the development of the village begins.

Location and description

The Platja den Repic is located on the south side of the Badia de Sóller ("Bay of Sóller"), a natural harbor bay on the northwest coast of Mallorca between Cap Gros and the small peninsula Racó de Santa Caterina with the headlands Punta de sa Creu and es Bufador . The eastern boundary of the beach is formed by the mouth of the Torrent Major , a torrent ( Torrent in Catalan ) that is fed from Sóller by the confluence of several smaller streams. The beach stretches from Torrent Major about 250 meters to the west and then follows the shoreline of the bay about 100 meters to the north.

Immediately to the west of the mouth of the Torrent Major , the small pier of en Repic juts out into the bay. On the eastern side of the mouth of the torrent begins the Platja des Través , the second beach area of Port de Sóller, behind which the Tramvia de Sóller , the tram to Sóller, runs along the shore. The train stop at Plaça de sa Torre next to Torrent Major is just a hundred meters from the east side of Platja den Repic beach .

Due to its location, the Platja den Repic is very popular. There are showers on the beach, as well as parasol and lounge chair rentals. The somewhat coarse sand of the beach, stony on the northwest side, is cleaned daily during the season. The Platja den Repic , which is monitored by lifeguards from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. , slopes gently into the sea. Pedal boats can be borrowed to go out onto the bay. The shipping traffic must be observed, as the port of Port de Sóller is only 550 meters away. The fairways are marked by buoys. The port facilities of Port de Sóller are easily visible from Platja den Repic . In the basement of the development on Passeig de sa Platja behind the beach there are restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. Two settlements, Can Joi and sa Muleta, adjoin the bank development to the southwest and west .

Access

Information board on the beach

The Platja den Repic has several beach accesses from Port de Sóller. East of the beach, the tram goes from Sóller via s'Horta to Port de Sóller, which stops at Plaça de sa Torre near the beach. The MA-11 road leads from Sóller to Port de Sóller, from which the MA-1134 road branches off to the northwest before entering the Túnel de sa Mola, which opened in 2007, towards Port de Sóller. This runs west of the beach along the Badia de Sóller through sa Muleta and ends at Cap Gros . From the GR 221 long-distance hiking trail , the Ruta de Pedra en Sec , there is a branch that leads to the Platja den Repic at the Badia de Sóller .
