Plautia affinis is a bug from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae). In English, the type of bug is also known as the Green Stink Bug (“Green Stink Bug”).
features
The olive-green bugs are 8 to 10 millimeters long. They have dark brown hemielytres . The lower end of the label ( scutellum ) is colored yellow.
distribution
The species occurs in the east of Australia in the states of Queensland and New South Wales .
Way of life
The bugs feed polyphagously on various wild and cultivated plants. Their host and fodder plants include rice ( Oryza sativa ), spinach ( spinach (Spinacia oleracea), ), kidney beans ( Phaseolus vulgaris ), fire sage ( Salvia splendens ), mulberries ( Morus ), apricots ( Prunus armeniaca ), the raspberry ( Rubus idaeus ), arabica coffee ( Coffea arabica ), the tomato ( Lycopersicon esculentum ), the black nightshade ( Solanum nigrum ), the potato ( Solanum tuberosum ) and the grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). In large numbers, the type of bedbugs causes damage to stone fruits, mulberries, wine or vegetables (beans and tomatoes) and is considered to be a minor agricultural pest .
Natural enemies
The natural enemies of Plautia affinis include the predatory bugs Pristhesancus plagipennis and Amyotea hamata as well as spiders from the crab spider family (Thomisidae). The following hymenoptera belong to the egg parasitoids of Plautia affinies : the Scelionidae Trissolcus basalis , Trissolcus oenone and Telenomus sp. and the hyperparasite Acroclisoides sp. from the family of the Pteromalidae .
