Plimmyri ( Greek Πλημμύρι ( n. Sg. )) Is a small beach settlement in the south of the island of Rhodes , about 85 kilometers from the city of Rhodes . It is located on the east coast of the island and belongs to the municipality of Notia Rodos . The closest places are Kattavia in the west and Lachania in the north. Plimmyri is connected to the main road on the island via a side road.

Plimmyri was recognized in 2001 as a settlement of the then Kattavia municipality and came to the Lachania community with the administrative reform in 2010 .

Plimmyri has a pier which is mainly used by fishing boats. The approx. 4.5 km long beach of the bay consists of a mixture of sand and gravel and is used by the sea ​​turtle Caretta caretta to lay eggs.

Attractions

The Zoodochos Pigi church is located near the beach. It was built in 1840 and has a double porch in which the remains of an early Christian basilica from the 5th or 6th century were built.

Plimmyri has long been considered a quiet and secluded place to stop for excursions. Since 2015 there has been a club hotel with over 400 rooms.
