Plumbo is a folk rock band from the sands of southern Norway .
history
The band was founded in 1997 and played as a live band in clubs in Norway. In 2002 they recorded their first album Full åpning , but that as well as album number two På vei til Harryland! didn't make a big impression another five years later. The breakthrough came with a different line-up: singer Erik Blokhus and bassist Tommy Elstad stayed and with Hasse Rønningen as drummer and as an addition Glenn Hauger with flute and accordion instead of a keyboardist they had reorganized themselves. The third album Råkk'n Råll Harry and especially the song Møkkamann with the distinctive flute playing brought the success. In the summer of 2011 the album reached number 11 and the song reached the top ten in the Norwegian charts.
At the end of 2011 it was announced that Plumbo would compete in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest . On January 14, 2012, the song Møkkamann was voted song of the year at the Spellemann Prize . At the award ceremony, singer Erik Blokhus made an unfortunate remark about mocha men to Madcon's dark-skinned competitors , for which he had to apologize several times afterwards. Thereupon their disqualification for the Melodi Grand Prix was demanded, they were still allowed to compete and were traded as favorites. At the end of January they won their preliminary round. In addition, their song Møkkamann returned to the charts and even made it to the top , it was awarded double platinum . Her self-written Grand Prix contribution Ola Nordmann also made it into the top 10.
