Podzosnowo ( Russian Подсосново ) is a village (Selo) in the German Nationalrajon of the Altai region in southern Western Siberia with 2100 inhabitants (2014).

Geography and history

Podzosnovo is a Lutheran village founded in 1894 by emigrants from the Volga region . It is located 40 km northeast of Slavgorod and before 1917 belonged to the Ujesd Barnaul in the Tomsk Governorate (since 1912 the administrative center of the Volost Podzosnowo), in the Soviet era it was in the Altai region, Slavgorod rayon, German (Oktyabrskij) rayon, Neu- Alexeyevka. Currently: German National Paleon.

The village is located 20 kilometers from the Halbstadt administrative center of the German National Circle in the Altai region of Russia. At the end of the 19th century, the first repatriates from the Volga region appeared in the west of the Altai region. The German colonists, the descendants of the German-born experts who were referred to Siberia by Catherine the Great , founded the village of Schönfeld in the Altai in 1890 and the village of Podzosnowo in 1893. In 2018 the Russian-German village celebrated its 125th anniversary.

economy

The village is the calling card of the German National Rajon of the Altai region. It is here that such productions as butter-making, brewery, sausage, pastry and mushroom growing develop. The villagers are particularly proud of the stud.

Attractions

Podzosnovo is a well-known tourist center of the Altai region. The main attractions of the village are the Lutheran Church, a center of German culture, an administration building, a hotel and various monuments. There is also a mini zoo where you can see camels, ponies, ostriches and horses, among other things. A folk and local history museum was opened in Podzosnovo for the 90th anniversary of the village.
