Aqua Magica

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aqua Magica ( Park of Magical Waters ) is a landscape and cultural park on both sides of the border between the cities of Löhne and Bad Oeynhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia , where the Bad Oeynhausen / Löhne 2000 state horticultural show took place. The 20 hectare park is open to the public and can be used for events.

history

The water crater in the park "Aqua Magica"

The culture park was built as a site for the State Garden Show (LGS) in 2000. It was planned in 1999 by the French landscape architects Henri Bava and Olivier Philippe, who used the abundant sources in the region to create a varied park landscape . In addition to the Mittelbach, the park includes the saline , warm healing springs that make Oeynhausen a bath and give the park the name Aqua Magica , which means magical water .

The highlight is an 18 m deep crater, from which a water fountain rises up over the crater rim. It is a walk-in, underground fountain sculpture and a stop on the journey to the “land of wonder”.

After the end of the LGS 2000, an operating company was founded to manage the park and organize garden maintenance.

Events

Aqua Magica GmbH organizes three large regional events. The literature festival Poetic Sources and the summer festival of small art take place annually, the citizens' festival every two years.

The summer festival of kleinKunst presents clowning , comedy , artistry and concerts against the backdrop of the illuminated park area on one evening in July .

The community festival serves to strengthen the neighborhood relations between Löhne and Bad Oeynhausen. Since not only the city limits run between the two cities, but also the district boundary between the Herford and Minden-Lübbecke districts, this event is also of regional importance.

The Poetic Sources literary festival lasts four days and is by far the largest event of its kind in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region .
